See! They can get along!

[Religious leaders met on Wednesday in Jerusalem for the annual silly costume competition. From left: Sheik Abed es-Salem Menasra, deputy mufti of Jerusalem; the Rev. Michel Sabbagh, the Latin patriarch; the Archbishop Torkom Manoogian, the Armenian patriarch; Rabbi Shlomo Amar, the Sephardic chief rabbi; and Rabbi Yona Metzger, the Ashkenazi chief rabbi. The man at right was not identified.]

PS: Actually, it wasn't a silly costume contest that brought this august group together (though Rabbi Amar wins, hands down.) The men made their rare show of unity to protest the 10-day WorldPride festival and parade (a homosexual event) planned for Jerusalem in August.

And cynics like me are left wondering why it takes a negative message to get these people to sit down together. I mean, you never see a group like this gathering to discuss ways to make life better for people or to call for something positive.
